Prospect High School

Prospect High School is a relatively small school in the suburb of Prospect, about seven kilometers south of Launceston. It has a long tradition of excellence in all academic subjects. In 2017, the campus underwent extensive renovation and redesign at a cost of $8.5 million. The modern facilities—including an art studio and dance and theater studios—have played a key role in making Prospect High School a contemporary, comfortable learning environment that enables high-quality teaching and learning.

In recent years, numerous programs have been developed that reflect the school’s close ties to the city of Launceston. These include mountain biking, catering and hospitality, and STEM. Hospitality, catering, and tourism are among the designated areas of focus and are further explored in grades 11 and 12.

The health and physical education curriculum has also been further developed, resulting in higher participation and considerable success at sporting events throughout Tasmania.

The exceptionally strong arts program offers students a wide range of opportunities to participate in school productions, local and national competitions, and creative evenings.

Overall, Prospect High School makes a very pleasant and friendly impression. The local students show great interest in international guests and welcome them openly and warmly into their community.
