Highschool Australia: Personal advice, extensive experience

When planning a student exchange, you are looking for more than just a place at a school. It’s about trust, security, and good advice—and that’s exactly what Highschool Australia offers.

We are based in Queensland, right on the spot. The agency is run by Anne Stewart, who has gained extensive experience over many years together with her German-Australian team. All of our employees live in Australia and are in close contact with the schools we place students in, whether public or private. This enables us to not only provide individual advice to our students and their parents, but also to personally accompany them during their stay.

Anne Stewart on the origins of Highschool Australia:

“I moved to Australia with my family over 20 years ago and was repeatedly asked by friends if I could help them place their children in Australian high schools. As a mother of three children who attended school here, I was already very familiar with the Australian school system. I myself completed my high school diploma and vocational training in Germany, so I am also familiar with the German school system.

I live with my family on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane and initially focused on helping friends in this region. Today, Highschool Australia is a state-approved agency that arranges school stays in all Australian states and New Zealand.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of students who want to improve their English at a high school in Australia or New Zealand and experience a different culture. Since Australian high schools only accept a limited number of international students, we have continuously expanded the number of public and private schools in our program.

In order to provide good support for the growing number of students, Highschool Australia has also gradually expanded its team. Heike Andryk joined us many years ago, followed by Judith Orthmann.

Heike Andryk:

“We came to Australia a few years ago out of love for the country and to give our son the opportunity to experience the great school system and bilingualism.

As I have always been impressed by the opportunities available to students at local high schools (and still am), I was delighted to accept the offer to work at Highschool Australia. I love helping young people realize their dream of studying in Australia.”

Judith Orthmann:

“Growing up in Berlin, I spent an unforgettable year in the US as an exchange student when I was 16. This experience had a lasting impact on me. In 2004, I moved to Australia, where I later studied at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

I really enjoy helping students and their families embark on a new adventure. A student exchange enriches life on so many levels—personally, academically, and later professionally. I am grateful to be able to share my experiences with others along the way.”
