Yeppoon State High School is located just a few hundred meters from the beach on the tropical Capricorn Coast, about half way between Brisbane and Mackay. At this high school, all students are assigned a tutor, who ensures that each student is well looked after and their individual progress is guaranteed.
The visual and performing arts are a highlight of Yeppoon State High School’s highly acclaimed arts programmes. These programs tap and nurture an amazing amount of talent with extensive specialist facilities and excellent course offerings.
Students have the opportunity to participate in the production of plays, among other things. Interested students of all grades can participate anywhere: from singing, dancing and acting to costumes, make-up and scenery creation. The students also help backstage with props and lighting, as well as with the organisation with ticket sales and the procurement of seats. The school’s own stage band plays the music for the theatre productions.
As part of the curriculum, Yeppoon State High School also offers agricultural courses. The school’s own farm offers very good training opportunities for students in the areas of agriculture, aquaculture and animal husbandry.
The High School also works with CQUniversity to provide vocational courses in construction, infrastructure and horticulture. This partnership with CQUniversity also ensures that all graduates of the school’s own Trade Training Centre are competent in their field of expertise and are ready to move into industry after graduation.
Yeppoon State High School is one of the very few schools in Australia to offer a Japanese Excellence Programme with Language Immersion, i.e. courses taught entirely in Japanese.
