Mountain Creek State High School is located four kilometres inland from Mooloolaba, a Sunshine Coast resort with great beaches and excellent surfing. It is the largest school on the Sunshine Coast and one of the largest in Queensland. For the sake of clarity it is divided into four individual schools. It thus offers all the advantages of a large school such as a wide range of subjects and activities and at the same time the advantages of a small school such as a personal interaction of teachers and students.
Accordingly, Mountain Creek State High School has an outstanding reputation for excellence in science, culture, leadership, community and sport.
The subjects Marine Science and Aquatic Practices are very popular. The school has its own boats for this purpose, and the high school students of these courses make an annual excursion to Lady Elliott Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
Another focus is ballet. The school’s own Dance Company offers students with a passion for or knowledge of dance a host of opportunities including jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and lyrical ballet. Students also have the opportunity to work with local guest artists when developing new works.
