Hillcrest Christian College, located just south of the centre of the Gold Coast, is one of the fastest growing private schools in Australia. The recently completed STEM Centre (STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is the sixth major construction project on the school’s campus in the last three years. The Centre comprises 18 classrooms for more than 400 students, including science labs, maths rooms, art studios, food technology and textile technology areas. All buildings at Hillcrest Christian College are fully equipped with high-speed wireless LAN and access to the latest projection screens and printers.
The school also focuses on the performing arts, with its own large theatre and professional sound and lighting equipment, two dance studios with bars and sprung floors, several practice rooms and music studios with state-of-the-art teaching technology.
Outside the classroom there are a large number of activities such as chess, debating clubs, free speech, mooting (oral presentation of a legal question) and art. Older students have the opportunity to take part in outdoor activities such as walking, camping or canoeing as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s programme.
The number of international guest students at Hillcrest Christian College is limited to 6% of all students in order to create optimal conditions for integration and learning opportunities in the local environment.
