Heathfield High School is idyllically situated at the foot of the Adelaide Hills near Mount Lofty, surrounded by bushland with native flora and fauna. The centre of Adelaide is only 15 km away.
The school offers a wide range of visual and performing arts, as well as an innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus program in a new center built specifically for it. Heathfield High School has a total of state-of-the-art learning spaces. The most recent construction project was completed in 2022. It included the upgrade of existing classrooms and the construction of a new three-storey building containing specialist art rooms, open plan classrooms and a new administration wing. The library area was also renovated.
There are a whole range of other excellent facilities, including the new technology, robotics and control centre with its robotic equipment, CNC mills and 3D printers.
Heathfield High School is a special interest school in volleyball and has won the Australian Schools Volleyball Championship a record number of times. Students in the volleyball program have the opportunity to participate in a number of tournaments in Australia and overseas. Volleyball pathways are offered in Years 7-11. Students complete a series of training courses to become qualified volleyball coaches. Students conduct training sessions for the school’s junior volleyball teams.
Outdoor education is particularly popular with the Internationals. While participating in outdoor activities, students develop knowledge and skills, and also promote their personal and social development. Practical components of the course include surfing or kayaking (3-day camp), bushwalking (4-day camp) and self-reliant (3-day camp).
