Frankston High School is located at the upper end of the Mornington Peninsula not far from the shores of Port Phillip Bay. The town of Frankston is part of Melbourne and has a direct train connection to the centre of Melbourne. The school is therefore conveniently located, but not too close to the distractions of Victoria’s exciting, multicultural capital. The beach is only a ten minute walk from Frankston High School. It is an ideal place for students to relax at the end of a busy school day. There are a number of water sports and leisure clubs.
Frankston High School is considered one of the leading schools in the area with outstanding academic achievements. Each year, more students achieve results that place them in the top 10% of all students in the country. The focus is on science and information technology, music and theatre, as well as sports. There are extraordinary subjects such as aviation with a flight simulator in the brand new media center, costume and stage design, and software development and game design.
The Frankston High School has won the Victoria State Senior School Athletics Championship for 17 consecutive years, which is probably unprecedented in the history of state school sports. It also regularly ranks in the top three in sports such as football, cricket, netball, rowing, tennis, badminton, hockey, basketball and equestrian sports at the state championships.
