Elwood College is located just a few hundred metres south of the trendy Saint Kilda district in a quiet area with parks, pretty cafes and restaurants. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and Melbourne’s city centre is easily accessible by public transport. The school has one of the longest existing and most successful international exchange programs in Australia.
The focus of Elwood College is on the performing and visual arts. There are excellent opportunities in drama, music, design and photography both within the curriculum and on a voluntary basis.
For example, students can make and enter an individual short film in the annual Film Making Competition in Media. In the ‘Journalism in School’ programme, students can write articles for the school newspaper, the college newsletter or the college website.
For students with basketball as a competitive sport, the Elwood College Basketball Academy is the place to be. The Academy offers the opportunity to pursue the sport with targeted expert training parallel to school lessons.
Every year Elwood College takes part in the Great Victorian Bike Ride, where several thousand recreational cyclists cover a distance of 550 km in eight days.
Furthermore, there are a number of camps with different content depending on the year level: outdoor education camps, two annual surf camps, one of which is an international student camp on the Gold Coast, and a ski camp on Mount Buller.
Elwood College usually has a large number of international students from almost 30 different countries. So it is diverse school where students can makes friends with people from all around the world.
