Elanora State High School is located at the southern end of the Gold Coast, just a few minutes walk from Tallebudgera Creek and beautiful beaches with great surfing. The school offers an academic focus combined with a consistent but flexible curriculum where students are placed in their chosen subjects by interest and ability rather than age.
A special highlight at Elanora State High School is the subject “Marine and Aquatic Recreation”. This is a unique opportunity to try out different water sports while experiencing a variety of marine environments. For example, students can dive or snorkel on Cook Island and in the Tweed River, as well as motorboating, fishing (including filleting and cooking) and sailing.
This course aims to introduce students to the management of marine environments and to develop the critical thinking skills necessary to make informed decisions about the tourism use and development of coastal areas. Within this framework, there is the possibility of students obtaining their boating license, sailing license or scuba diving license as well as a marine radio license.
