Coffs Harbour Senior College

Regional School

Coffs Harbour Senior College is centrally located in the town of the same name, an important regional centre with many very good shopping opportunities with one of the most pleasant climates in Australia. The town is nestled between a high mountain backdrop and dozens of pristine beaches.

Coffs Harbour Senior College caters for Year 11 and 12 students, providing them with comprehensive educational opportunities in an ambitious, university-like environment. There is no school uniform. The College is located in partnership with Southern Cross University and TAFE NSW on a shared site known as the ‘Coffs Harbour Education Campus’ (CHEC). This co-location also allows students to participate in a wide range of subjects and courses without having to leave campus.

The curriculum offering of academic and pre-vocational programmes is extensive, and various extension options are also available. The ‘Extension & Enrichment Programme’ offers specialised classes and programmes for in-depth study opportunities. These programmes include additional workshops and guest lectures, as well as individual teacher support. Furthermore, students can engage intensively in a range of extra-curricular activities, including sports and the creative and performing arts.

Facilities include computerised laboratories, a university-level library, teaching kitchens and a learning centre. The ‘Student Learning Centre’ is a dedicated area with access to IT and multimedia equipment, computers, printers and a group study area as an alternative to the library.

Each year the college runs a large number of field trips covering most subjects. For example, Heron Island Week is a great time to enjoy the practical aspects of the Marine Science course. But the ski trip is a favourite too.
