Brighton Secondary College

Brighton Secondary College is located in Brighton East, a quiet and affluent suburb on Port Phillip Bay, about 12 kilometers southeast of downtown Melbourne. The location is easily accessible by public transportation: students can easily reach the school by train, tram, bus, or bicycle, and many also walk. Brighton itself is considered a safe and pleasant place to live. The beach, shopping centers, cafés, and restaurants are just a few minutes away. Those who want to stay active in their free time will find numerous sports clubs in the area, such as for sailing, golf, soccer, or tennis.

Brighton Secondary College enjoys an excellent reputation and boasts a very high graduation rate for the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). In addition, it is an accredited International Baccalaureate World School and offers the IB Diploma Program.

The academic focus is complemented by extensive art and music programs. The program for international students is considered a model program by the Australian Department of Education; enrollment is limited to 120 students, ensuring smooth integration into the school community.

Sports play a major role at Brighton Secondary College. The school offers high-performance sports programs as well as a wide range of activities for all interested students. Students can compete in various team sports, participate in school and district competitions, and benefit from coaching by experienced teachers. The proximity to Port Phillip Bay and the numerous sports clubs in the area open up additional opportunities outside of the school day.

Camps and field trips are an integral part of school life and are designed to provide students with experiences beyond the classroom. For exchange students, these camps are a particularly good opportunity to quickly make friends and experience the country firsthand.

The instrumental music program is an extracurricular offering with a focus on ensemble work. All participants are members of one of the main ensembles and rehearse weekly. The ensembles include the Show Band, which is organized by skill level; the Big Band, which focuses on jazz and swing; the string ensemble; and the guitar-based Next Level Band and World Band, which perform at events such as lunchtime concerts. Throughout the year, there are numerous public performances.
