The Gap State High School

The Gap State High School is uniquely located in the foothills of Mount Coot-tha and the D’Aguilar National Park. However, the centre of Brisbane is only 15 minutes away by public transport.

The Gap State High School’s curriculum and structure are designed to promote as many areas of adolescence as possible: not only mind and body, but also self-confidence and social behavior.

The Leadership Training Centre is a unique facility to The Gap State High School.  It features 24 adventure training activities such as indoor rock climbing walls that can be manoeuvred and changed, bouldering walls, high ropes, internal and external abseiling platforms, high leaps, an internal caving system and activity based vertical apparatus for individuals and teams. The Leadership Training is a fairly unique program in Australia designed to improve students’ personal, social and leadership skills.

Other programs of excellence can be found in the academic sector with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), theatre, music, film & TV as well as in sports, especially volleyball.

For the large and dynamic music programme, consisting of ensembles, bands and choirs, a separate concert building with 700 seats, auditorium, practice and rehearsal rooms is available.

Outside the regular lessons you can get involved in “clubs” – e.g. chess, graphic design, climbing or mathematics.
