Saint Stephen’s College

Private School

Saint Stephen’s College is located in Coomera on the northern end of the Gold Coast, the fastest growing area in south east Queensland. It is about 45 minutes by car from Brisbane and 20 minutes to the Gold Coast beaches.

Saint Stephen’s College enjoys an excellent reputation for a range of academic, sporting and cultural activities. But it is the caring atmosphere and the community spirit that makes this school really special. Teachers and students always support each other to achieve the best results.

The school is only twenty years old, which is reflected in its modern architecture and an open, green environment. As the number of students increased, new buildings were added. Particular attention was paid to variable, appealing and learning-promoting rooms.

As far as the teaching is concerned, the school has a very forward-looking approach. It is very committed when it comes to introducing new technologies into the curriculum, and it embraces change to constantly improve the teaching environment. Embracing technology is seen as an important part of teachers and pupils daily lives, and indispensable in the preparation of students for the challenges of the 21st century.

This is also reflected in the new buildings, rooms and facilities of Saint Stephen’s College. There is, for example, the iCentre, which has the format of the traditional library mixed with interactive possibilities to research, cooperate and learn. Here you will find printed books and documents in addition to digital sources such as eBooks and databases. There are group workrooms available as well as “learning bays” for individuals, all equipped with laptops available around the clock. The entire campus is covered by W-Lan.

Another strength is the “Art and Applied Technology” area, a state-of-the-art facility that brings together the disciplines of the arts, film, television and new media, graphics and IT under one roof. The open design of the rooms is a remarkable addition to the physical limits of the traditional classroom and creates an inspiring community work environment. The equipment leaves nothing to be desired: sound-proofed media room for film and sound recordings, green screens, 3D printers, laser cutters and other latest digital devices. There is also a gallery and a large learning area for small groups working on special projects.

Outside of the curriculum, there is a broad range of possibilities, especially in the areas of music, theater and dance. Woodwind, brass, percussions, strings, piano, guitar and voice, ensembles or solo at a range of levels are available as well as a chamber music excellence program.

Saint Stephen’s is also known for its strong Drama offering. Those who prefer to be behind the stage can testify to the “Technical Theatre” where participants gain practical experience with the latest industry standard equipment, including light, sound and other technical requirements for larger live productions. Dance lessons are held in the College’s own dance studio, wit Classical ballet, jazz dance, hip hop and aerobics all on offer.

At Saint Stephen’s College, Internationals are very welcome. Traditionally, up to 70 students from around the globe study here each year.
