Barrenjoey High School is located in a quiet residential suburb on a peninsula at Avalon Beach about 35 km north of Sydney on Sydneys beautiful North Shore. Supermarkets, cafes and cinema are only a few minutes away. Good bus connections make it easy to visit the City and the surrounding area.
The location directly on the beach and the sea is used by Barrenjoey to shift large parts of the lessons to the outdoors when the weather is good (which is often), and all water sports (surfing, sailing, stand-up paddling) are offered. Due to the manageable number of students, the relationship among between students and with the teachers is also very relaxed and personal.
The school offers a remarkable blend of academic achievement, artistic expression and social awareness. Barrenjoey High School has a very good music program, with its own musical productions. In winter there is a ski camp, in which the entire 11th year, including the international students, participate.
